What you should do first

The most basic things to do on a newly started Minecraft session is to harvest food, create a crafting table, create a shelter for the night, and create wooden tools as well as a sword for your protection. Most new and experienced players do this technique, and it will do you good to follow it as well.

Even though the tip above will prepare you for the first night, it will provide little protection, which still poses a risk. Below are some tips on how to make sure that you can survive the first night with as little risk as possible.

  1. Ready your shelter

Craft a bed for you to sleep in. The bed should be inside the shelter you make.

  1. Kill animals for resources

Kill animals, preferably sheep, with your wooden weapons or by hand. Take note that it will take a considerable amount of time to kill sheep by hand if you don’t have a weapon. Killing sheep will provide you with meat, allowing you to replenish your health. Additionally, it also provides wool, a resource that is used for crafting.

  1. Trap animals for supplies

Trap animals by digging a hole under them. You can do so by finding an animal and carefully digging a hole using your tools to trap them in it. We recommend you to trap 2 of the same animals in a single hole so that they will be able to reproduce. This way, you will not have to worry about catching more animals as long as you live at least 2 animals alive.

This tip is helpful in the sense that it provides you with a steady supply of animals to kill, which can come in handy if you are in a bind. For example, instead of scrambling around to find a source of meat if you are low of health, you can simply kill one of your trapped animals and immediately get what you need.

  1. Strive to survive until day time

If everything goes wrong and you are left running for your life, just do it and run.

Regardless of how bad a situation you have gotten into, it can be remedied as long as you survive until the night is over.

Most threats are gone by daytime, zombies will burn, spiders will cease in their assault, and endermen will teleport from the map. Creepers will also leave eventually as long as you survive.
